Daerkside City

Daerkside City

The corruption and destruction of most of the governing systems of the United States, along with the degradation of society caused compounds to be turned into fortresses before the Tak landed. A new economy began to emerge. Most people naturally knew how to barter to get what they wanted. So Fortresses began to barter with each other on a larger scale. Water flowed from the north to the south, so dams could be built and water horded for sale and distribution. Oil could still be pumped from the ground and traded. There were farmers in all fortresses, but some plants grew better in different areas. So some things didn’t change. Major cities were protected and the beginnings of other fortresses were constructed.  With no real government in place, people relied on governors of left over states and city councils which became new fortress councils over time.
